The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports has developed the Cultural Statistics Yearbook 2012 , which provides an understanding of the situation and development of culture in Spain, its social value and its character as a source of wealth . Its main elements are: the sector contributed a 3.6% of GDP in 2009 , a 19.7% of tourists come to Spain for cultural reasons , employment in this area came in the second quarter of 2012 to 452,700 people , representing 2.6% of our country, and the average expenditure of Spanish households in cultural goods and services is of 828.3 per year .
